Article: Behind the Pour at Simple North

Behind the Pour at Simple North

Simple North begins with a connection between fragrance and place: a salt-swept shoreline, a shaded woodland path, or the warmth of a familiar room. Those references guide candles made to become part of everyday life at home.

Fragrance with a point of view

Our founder, Ashley Beurer, is a Certified Aromatherapist and formulates each scent. The starting point is a particular setting or atmosphere, followed by the notes that give it character. Cypress and moss suggest woodland shade; sea salt and coastal herbs recall open water and a rugged shore.

The materials we choose

Our candles are hand-poured in small batches in Raleigh, North Carolina, using 100% plant-based soy wax and natural cotton wicks. We choose premium, phthalate-free fragrance oils crafted with botanical extracts and essential oils sourced from around the world.

For a closer look at these choices, read Why We Choose Soy Wax.

Designed to belong at home

Scandinavian simplicity informs our understated vessels and restrained labels. The intention is a candle that settles naturally into the room, with fragrance bringing a personal detail to it.

More than one view of a place

Our Scent Series brings together three fragrances around a shared setting. Woodlands moves through evergreens, moss, and warm woods. By the Sea explores coastal herbs, fruit, flowers, and salt air. Each candle offers a different way into the landscape.

Begin with a place you love, or use the Discovery Set to explore four fragrances of your choosing.
